MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT AND ASSET MANAGEMENT
Opening in 2008, Westfield London was the first mixed-use retail, dining, leisure, entertainment, office and residential destination in the UK which transformed the way people shop, work, live and play.
The Westfield London team, tore up the rule books and challenged all conventions to deliver a flagship destination within UK. Revolutionary global firsts were achieved including creating a luxury precinct inside a shopping centre, hosting world-movie premieres featuring Hollywood and leading music industry celebrities in a dedicated events space that also became renowned for launching global brands.
Throughout the centre’s lifetime, value has been continually added through asset enhancements, maximising all space opportunities including building the first Kidzania on the roof of M&S to opening a major events space called Exhibition London, which is leased by Broadwick, as well as continuing to refresh the dining and entertainment experiences. After just five successful years, work started on the 65,000 sqm expansion of the centre which included additional retail, offices, public spaces, more entertainment and dining.
Westfield London is the largest shopping destination in Europe and the number one ranked centre in the UK. It has inspired £8bn worth of incremental inward investment to the area, sparking significant regeneration which will contribute to Westfield’s London future success. Commerz Real AG bought 50% of Westfield London extension delivering significant profit.
